SAM SAM X RED BULL ARE TAKING SPINNING GLOBAL

South African spinning just hit the world stage and Samkelisiwe “Sam Sam” Mdolomba is at the wheel. In collaboration with Red Bull, the East Rand-born stunt driver is putting kasi car culture in the global spotlight.

Spinning has long been a staple of South African streets. But now, thanks to Sam Sam’s raw talent and Red Bull’s platform, it’s more than just a local thrill, it’s a movement. Sam Sam’s big break came in 2016 on the TV competition So You Think You Can Spin? Across 13 adrenaline-filled episodes, he outperformed 300 other drivers with stunts that had jaws dropping. The public couldn’t get enough, voting him all the way to the top and securing him the grand prize and national fame.

Once seen as an underground thrill, spinning is now becoming more of a mainstream sport. With official backing from Minister Gayton McKenzie, the sport’s profile is rising fast and there’s real momentum behind giving it the spotlight it deserves.

From the township to international arenas, Sam Sam isn’t just showing up, he’s standing out. This isn’t just about cars. It’s about culture, community, and claiming space on a global stage. And if the smoke trails are anything to go by, Sam Sam’s just getting started.
